A signing ceremony on a Brunei Darussalam tourism satellite account was signe, earlier this week, at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, Brunei Darussalam.
It involves the Ministry of Industry Primary Resources, Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources with DIW Econ (Aphec Independent Economics Consulting).
Tourism Development Department was represented by Dayang Mariani Hj Sabtu, acting director of Tourism Development of Brunei Darussalam and DIW Econ by Dr Ferdinand Pavel, director, Aphec Independent Economics Consulting.
The Tourism Satellite Account is one of the projects under the 10th National Development Plan. This project will be implemented over a period of 14 months to identify the impacts of the travel and tourism sector on the nation’s economy, as well review and identify the relevant policies to be considered.
It will evaluate the contribution of tourism to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and overall economic development of the country.
It will also help to develop and conduct relevant studies to obtain accurate data on investment, tourism, travel expenses (tourist receipts), tourism income and employment generated tourism sector as a contributor to socio-economic development of the country; and
This will assist in making decisions on the future direction and development of Brunei Darussalam tourism products.
